Community Resilience · Windsor, VT

Community resilience starts with people who show up.

I've built things in my community — a worker-owned bakery cooperative, a town board through a pandemic, a scouting troop, a music collective. These are the things I'm proud of, and how I can help you build yours.

Cooperative

A family cookie bakery, converted to worker ownership.

I founded the Covered Bridge Cooperative Corporation, the worker-owned co-op that makes Covered Bridge Cookies. A thirty-year-old family bakery in Windsor, Vermont — my father's recipes, real ingredients, nothing you can't pronounce — now 100% owned by the people who do the work.

Four owners, living wage, good conditions. The legacy stays with the people who keep it running. It's hard. Real collaboration — sharing power and treasure genuinely — is worth the work. But it's not a switch you flip once. You choose it, actively, every day.

Leadership

This is what governing through a crisis is actually like.

Sworn in to the Windsor, Vermont Selectboard two weeks before the COVID lockdowns started. No manual, just neighbors helping neighbors in the face of great unknown. You learn fast how people, power, government, markets, and non-profits interact when the ground's moving under everyone at once.

"Speak truth to power and move the needle."

We held the town together and made real made that stuck. Some of our accomplishments:

Pride flag raised Retail cannabis Kept taxes low through COVID Infrastructure investment New playgrounds Built downtown housing Greenlit solar buildout
Community

Get together. Dance. Adventure.

Two community projects I've helped build from the ground up.

161st Catamunts Scout Troop

I founded the 161st Catamounts under an Outdoor Service Guides charter. Three things: get together, get good at real skills, go on adventures.

We practice in many skills: de-escalation, Wilderness First Aid, HAM radio, camping. The point is people who can take care of themselves and each other.

"Find your path, change the world!"

WhatDothLife

I was also a founding member of Whatdothlife, a Vermont music and arts collective. Together we built the scene, the culture, the events, the shows. A community of artists, musicians, and builders making things happen. The unglamorous part — showing up early, staying late, making sure the magic has a place to exist.

How I can help your organization work.

Cooperatives, municipalities, mutual aid groups, clubs, NGOs — if your mission isn't just profit, your operations should reflect that. Culture, policy, logistics, process. How decisions get made and power gets distributed.

Governance & Decision Design

How do you actually make decisions? Who has power, when, and how's it distributed? I help boards, co-ops, and member orgs design governance that matches their values — not corporate boilerplate.

Cooperative Operations & Process

The systems that keep values-based work running day to day. Logistics, workflows, meeting structures, operational rhythms. I bring what I learned converting a 30-year bakery to worker ownership — the process side of collective management.

Culture, Policy & Integration

Bringing cooperative culture into existing organizations, or building it from nothing. Policy that reflects real values, not boilerplate. Making distributed power work in practice, not just on paper.
